Tennis courts: Dolores Park
« Back to Court Guide index

Court Guide: Dolores Court

Where: Dolores Heights
Hours: Dawn to 10pm
Courts: 6
Condition: Excellent
Average wait time: Short daytime, long nighttime
Windscreens: No
Lights: Yes

The six courts found at Dolores Park on the corner of 18th and Dolores streets are great except for their lack of wind screens. The surfaces are like new and the wind keeps the courts relatively dirt free. The wind also keeps your ball rolling into the court next to yours.

The courts are generally empty during the day and full in the evening. There is no hitting wall but players looking for a game can almost always find one.

The courts’ proximity to such a well used park offers plusses and minuses. There is plenty to do for the non-tennis players in your household. But the court also draws a lot of inexperienced players who aren’t necessarily all that familiar with tennis etiquette. Be prepared to play through disturbances such as balls rolling on your court and people running behind you.

The courts are lighted. The lights go off at 10 p.m.
