Lake Merced Trail

The loop around the Lake Merced Reservoir is a pleasant 5 mile path near SFSU and south of Golden Gate Park. Half-urban and half-park, the hilly route travels between such SF institutions as Fort Funston, the Armory and the San Francisco Zoo, and is close to fishing, sailing and golf.

Distance:
5+ miles

Recommended For:
Intermediate skaters; some stretches ok for beginners

Route:
Starting at the Fort one can go clockwise around the Lake via Skyline Blvd., Lake Merced Blvd., and back on John Muir Dr.

Notes:
Smooth and wide path make this excellent for fitness training. Moderate to steep hills provide good slalom slopes and beautiful Ocean vistas.
