Bay Area Skate Spots: Lafayette-Moraga Trail
Skate Spots:
Lafayette-Moraga Trail

This 15-mile loop is perfect for all skaters with a high level of fitness. Passing through the foothills, the route varies between flat sections and moderately hilly ones and at several points requires skaters to stop for traffic at intersections.

Distance:
15 miles

Recommended For:
All.

Route:
The first 3 miles of the trail out of Lafayette are flat and cross through several mild intersections. Out of Moraga, the trail becomes rolling to hilly. Across from St. Mary's College there is a rest stop and then a long ascent to Moraga Commons, where the trail cuts to the left of a park. To get to the south trail you must go through Oldtown Moraga, across from the shopping center and along School St. to get to Country Club Dr. for a half block. The paved path ends at Canyon Road.

Notes:
The pavement of the south trail becomes rougher and less ideal for clean, fast skating. Be Careful.

Directions:
Off Highway 24 at Lafayette, take the Pleasant Hill Rd. Exit and go south. You can park at the intersection with Olympic Blvd.
