Canada Road

San Mateo - This wonderfully smooth two-lane highway is closed to automobiles every first, second and fouth Sunday of the month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Open only to bicycles, pedestrians and skaters it is a perfect place to skate.

Distance:
7.5 miles

Recommended For:
All levels.

Route:
If you start on the less crowded south end at Edgewood Rd. you will have a tailwind for the fast moving trip back. At almost two miles, you will pass the Pulgas Water Temple to the west where you can find water and picnic tables.

Notes:
The possibilities seem endless: slalom, speed, etc. Be careful though, not to skate beyond your abilities and beginners should hone their braking skills.

Directions:
Off I-280 near Redwood City, take the Edgewood Rd. exit and go west for a mile until you reach Canada Rd.
