Directions to Trailhead

Description
Rodeo Beach is an incredibly satisfying destination for urban dwellers seeking a quick respite from city life. San Franciscans need only drive a few miles into Marin County, and there's even bus service to the trailhead. First time visitors may be shocked at the contrast: you are practically within shouting distance of the city, and yet wildlife is plentiful, trails are quiet, and on some days it can even feel lonely. Unlike the other staging areas in the Marin Headlands, Rodeo Beach offers a few amenities, including real restrooms and a paved parking area. Many people show up here to surf or walk on the beach. This used to be a popular trailhead for cyclists, but a landslide a few years ago swept away large sections of Coastal Trail. Long segments of the paved fire road were replaced with steps, and these were designated carry zones for cyclists. In order to avoid hauling bikes up and down the hill, most cyclists depart from other trailheads.

Drive through the one-way tunnel which cuts under 101 (you may wait up to 5 minutes for your turn). From the other side of the tunnel, drive about 3 miles on Bunker Drive to the trailhead at the end of the road.
