Description
On a warm day, there's usually so much activity around the shoreline at Del Valle that you might feel a little conspicuous trudging around in hiking boots. The majority of visitors come to Del Valle to fish, boat, or swim. Once you get past the bustling marina area, you'll likely find the trails quiet and somewhat lonely. Most of the trails wind along the shoreline and climb through oak and grass covered hillsides on Del Valle's east shore, but there are a couple of trails on the park's western area. East Shore Trail runs more than 5 mostly level miles along the shoreline, and can be a good option for a lazy out-and-back hike. The park's terrain is largely oak savannah, and Del Valle is very pretty in late winter and early spring, when the blue and valley oaks put forth fresh leaves and wildflowers bloom in the grassland.
