Course lowdown
Part of the fun of The Sea Ranch Golf Links is getting there. There's simply no way to avoid the scraggly, winding Highway 1 and no matter where you're coming from in the Bay Area, you're at least a couple of hours away. Once you get there you'll see why you drove so far.

The Sea Ranch is challenging and charming -- true public seaside links golf. Not as close to the ocean as Pebble Beach and not as manicured, but also not nearly as expensive. Actually, about $250 cheaper. And the small pocket of coastline on the borders of Sonoma and Mendocino counties is truly breathtaking.

You don't see much polish here. The Sea Ranch is rustic down to the small wooden clubhouse, the dirt cartpaths, rough fairways and the Scottish-style rough growing uncontrollably almost everywhere you look.

The Sea Ranch is one of the most difficult courses in the state the first time you play it. And a few times after that. You simply can't afford to miss many fairways and greens--there's hazards everywhere, and if those don't give you enough trouble, the unpredictable wild Sonoma coast weather will toss some your way.
