This is the reason you came here.

You're challenged for every step of the 527 yards. First, you've got to clear the ball about 200 and dead straight to put it comfortably in play above a rise that becomes a fairway squeezed between the wall of redwoods to the right of the fairway and the row of rustic wooden getaway homes on the right side.

As if that isn't enough, you've got to keep your second shot to the right side so you can even see the green, which is perched in a small clearing.

And the green is not easy either, with some interesting undulation.

No. 9 at Northwood is a phenomenal golf hole that makes you upset that the other eight weren't as good. Of course, there's nothing wrong with the other eight. It's just that No. 9 really is spectacular.
