Another great coastal park. Van Damme covers 1,831 acres in Mendocino County, and there's a lot of great stuff in there. The Fern Canyon scenic trail system is one of the park's main attractions. There's also the Pygmy Forest, where tiny cypress and pine trees sprout from the ground reaching the comical heights of 6 inches to 8 feet tall.

Enjoy the 74 car-camping sites near the coast plus ten sites located 1.7 miles up Fern Canyon Trail. The management sells bundles of firewood for $5 at the Russian Gulch headquarters.

Getting there
Another no-brainer. The park is three miles south of Mendocino on Highway One.
