This coastal national recreation haven actually has three state parks within its borders -- Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Parks. Some of the world's tallest trees grow in Redwood NP, along with 190 species of exotic plants. Together with the State parks inside, Redwood NP is both a World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve -- two distinctions indicating the value and beauty of the native ecosystems.

Getting there
Take 101 north for a meager, lightning-quick 397 miles to the Redwood Information Center, 2 miles west of Orick.
