Description
Located in the El Corte de Madera Creek Open Space Preserve near Woodside, this ride consists of both singletrack and fireroads. The trails wind through trees, descend technical downhills, and climb some hills. This ride is a lot of fun and requires some technical skills. The climb out at the end can be a little tiring, but the ride is definitely worth it.

Directions
From 101 and 92 in San Mateo, take 92 West towards Half Moon Bay. At the top of the hill, or mountain range, depending upon your point of view, turn left onto Skyline Boulevard, Highway 35. At approximately the 7-mile mark, the parking area for Skeggs Point appears on the left. A big stone wall borders the parking area. If you are heading south, you cannot see the sign for Skeggs Point. From the exit to the parking area, turn right on Highway 35.

Comment
In case you're wondering, a steam donkey was a mechanical cable winch (developed in the 1880s) which was powered by steam and used to move logs on hillsides and skid roads quicker than oxen.
