0.0 Start in La Honda on Highway 84. Head up Haskins Road and get ready to start climbing almost immediately. One word to the wise though, you're near the ocean now and that beautiful weather that you left on the other side of the ridge may not be waiting for you in La Honda. Always be prepared for cool foggy weather when you ride in this are.
2.9 Make a right turn and start climbing. The climb up Haskins Hill isn't terribly hard, but remember you've got a ways to go still.
13.0 Turn right on Stage Road.
20 After riding over the two climbs on Stage Road, cross through San Gregorio, over Highway 84. The San Gregorio store is right here if need anything.
21.2 Turn right on Highway 1.
22.7 Turn right on Tunitas Creek Road.
24.7 Turn left on Lobitos Creek Cutoff. In about a mile or so, Lobitos Creek comes very close to Highway 1 again. Don't go over to Highway 1, stay on Lobitos Creek which changes name to Verde Road.
28.1 Turn right on Purisma Road. and head back towards the hills.
31.7 Turn left on Higgins Road. This was often the deciding section of the Pinkies Road Race. In fact, Higgins Road used to be a dirt road. The climb wasn't that difficult, other than the fact that it came late in the race, but the dirt descent was often the difference between winning and losing. The first time I did this race in 1986 it rained and the descent was VERY interesting. Anyway, it has since been paved.
36.1 Turn left on Highway 1. When riding along the coast, I always recommend riding south when riding on Highway 1. The wind generally blows from the North and you'll almost always have a nice tailwind. This ride is a perfect example of using the hills to keep out of the wind and then heading South with the tailwind.
44.5 Turn left off of Highway 1 onto Stage road and head back towards San Gregorio.
45.6 Turn left on Highway 84 for the gradual climb back towards La Honda. Of course, if you just HAVE to climb some more you can alway retrace your route back over Stage Road and Haskins Hill...
