0.0 Start at the Park and Ride at the corner of Franklin Canyon and Alhambra Ave. To get there, take the Alhambra Ave. exit off of Highway 4 and head south. The Park and ride will be on your right. Head west on Franklin Canyon Road.
4.3 Turn right on Cummings Skyway. At this point you have done virtually all of the climbing for this ride.
6.5 Take the right turn on Crocket Blvd and descend into Crockett.
8.5 Turn right on Pomona Street at the "T" intersection and head through downtown Crockett. As you head out of Crockett, the road will twist and turn it's way along the Carquinez Straights affording excellent views of the Straights, Benecia, the Carquinez Bridge, and Vallejo.
This is your last chance to get refreshments before you get to Martinez.
If you're really into pain look for a road called McEwen Road on your right, a mile or two out of Crockett. The first 100 meters says it all, and it doesn't get any easier until the top. Some sadistic bastard came up with the idea of having a race on this road some years back. Luckily it hasn't happened in a while. Even most of the top catagory 1 and 2 racers would end up groveling in their 39x23 by the end of the race.
12.5 Just after you pass the "factory" on the left the road is closed to cars. There are sections where portions of the road washed out due to previous years winter rains. There is still plenty of road for cycling, just not for auto traffic. From this point until you reach Martinez enjoy the road without cars, but stay alert for obstacles in the road.
16.3 As you enter Martinez, turn right on Talbart Street. The following series of turns are only a few blocks apart so keep an eye out.
16.5 Turn left on Green Street.
16.8 Turn right on Castro Street.
17.4 Turn left on Soto Street. Soto Street is a dead end street, but there is a bike path at the end that leads through the dead end and over a creek onto Soto Ct.
17.5 Turn right on Nicolette. It's about time to start gaining that last bit of altitude back. Just a few short climbs to go. Turn left at the "T" one block later, and then right again on Pine Street. Pine Street later changes name to Center Ave. when you cross over Highway 4.
20.0. Turn right on Morello Ave.
21.3 Turn right on Vine Hill Way.
21.5 Turn left on Church Street.
21.7 Turn Right on Tahoe Drive.
21.9 Turn left on Alhambra Way.
22.0 Turn right on Alhambra Ave. and head for the Park and Ride.
