Old Cabin Loop
turn-by-turn mileage log
Mile 0.0 - Head straight down the paved road into the park.
Mile 0.20 - Turn left onto the road that goes into Wilder Ranch. You are supposed to walk your bikes through the ranch.
Mile 0.36 - Travel through the tunnel under Highway 1.
Mile 0.41 - A large map appears on the right behind glass. Cross the cattle guard and continue straight on the fireroad to the left side of the farm.
Mile 0.55 - Go left at the Y.
Mile 0.58 - Turn left onto Wilder Ridge Loop Trail by hanging a U-Turn.
Mile 0.76 - Go right toward the hill at the Y.
Mile 1.32 - Go right as Wilder Ridge Loop Trail Ys.
Mile 2.05 - Go right onto Twin Oaks Trail.
Mile 2.74 - Go right at the Y.
Mile 2.96 - Turn right onto Eucalyptus Loop Trail. This trail becomes quite nasty first with a technical, quick, little hill and then a technical climb. Both are very short. Other small technical climbs follow.
Mile 4.24 - Turn right onto the unnamed singletrack. This trail is a heck of a lot of fun. (This trail was closed last time I rode there in December. I don't know if it will be reopened soon, if ever. It is the best trail on this ride). If the trail is closed, go to Mile 4.46 to see if it is open from that side. (NOTE: If this trail is open, the mileage will be off slightly.)
Mile 4.46 - If the trail is still closed, turn around and head back towards Old Cabin Trail.
Mile 5.23 - Turn left onto Old Cabin Trail. This is great singletrack.
Mile 6.28 - Turn right (on Wagon Wheel Trial?).
Mile 6.53 - Turn left onto Wild Boar Trail.
Mile 6.75 - Turn right and start descending on Engelsman Loop Trail. It is a fireroad...and very fast...and fun!
Mile 8.25 - Cross cattle guard.
Mile 8.28 - Go through tunnel under Highway 1.
Mile 8.35 - Hop off bike and walk it through Wilder Ranch.
Mile 8.45 - Turn right and head back towards ranger kiosk.
Mile 8.66 - End of ride.
