The first half of the ride is fairly easy, following a fireroad that is either an uphill climb or downhill coast. Starting with Pine Mountain Rd, the trail becomes rutted and rocky with steep climbs and a really steep descent. The ride ends on a couple miles of pavement to get back to Deer Park.

Directions
From Highway 101, take the San Anselmo exit called Sir Francis Drake and head west. Go around 6 miles or so to Fairfax. Turn left at Claus, quickly turn left on Broadway, and then quickly right on Bolinas-Fairfax Road. Go about a mile and turn left on Porteous (a sign also says that this is the way to Deer Park). Stay on Porteous for about a half mile to the park.
