North Peak Location: San Mateo County

Technicality: 6
Difficulty: Strenuous
Riding Time: 1¼ - 1¾ Hour
Directions

Description
This is a stunning ride. Pedaling through the pampas grass enclosed road for the first two miles was charming. After that, the next ½ mile is a grind. Then the trail steadily climbs to the Peak. The view from the top is quite nice as you can see San Francisco to the north and, of course, the Pacific ocean to the west. On the way back down the same fireroads, there are a few small pieces of singletrack to take which always add a little something more to a ride.

Turn-by-turn mileage log

Directions
From San Francisco, take Highway 280 South. Take the Highway 1 exit towards Pacifica. When the freeway ends, go almost 7 miles and turn into the small parking area for Montara Sate Beach / McNee Ranch. If this parking lot is full, as it only hold 4 or 5 vehicles, park about another 200 feet on down Highway 1 on the beach side. The trailhead is on the other side of the yellow gate.
